so ya this week has been really different its
transfer week and i had a lot to do so Monday we went to tacloban so i
could print a picture for a member so he could apply for a job and so we
did and bought food which probably wasn't the best idea since i am
almost out of money for the month but i think i will be ok so then
Tuesday i gave my training in the morning and then went to dulag to send
the tithing money and then went to the church for our branch presidency
meetings we are trying to get an elders quorum presidency going i hope
it happens quick but ya so Wednesday was youth conference which i had to
attend because of the lack of priesthood all leaders are required to
attend but it was fun we got there at about 9 in the morning and most
people were already there then they started with like an orientation and
the manager at the beach resort where they had the youth con talked
about all the rules and she started talking about how she was going to
speak English for the foreigners which were me and elder ostler lol then
the district president said ayaw na nakaintiende hira or don't they
understand so then she decided to speak Tagalog yay as if it wasn't hard
enough to understand her English but ist cool i ended up leaving with
elder ostler to go and buy food for lunch for the youth and when we gt
back she had just finished after 2 hours so then they all ate and took
all their stuff to their cottages and went to their first activity which
was a split personal progress and duty to God and so we made sure the
young women got their stuff started then went to the duty to God class
where president Maxfield was the guest speaker so English yay but they
understood him for the most part but ya so he talked about honesty and
the benefits of it and then the other leaders turned it into a Q&A
and had the missionaries come up and answer their questions yay but it
was good and really got us thinking but it seemed like all of their
questions were about the word of wisdom and why cant the smoke and drink
at first i just want to ask them do they want to die at 40 but i
stopped and thought and we used the bible and BofM to answer their
questions it was a good experience and then i realized how much i have
learned in the past 10 and a half months lol we were talking earlier
this morning and i was like wow im only a month and a half away from
being a year into the mission but i still feel like i just got here it
goes faster and faster every week but yay then after the split activity
the next they split into 3 groups
and had a cooking contest awesome because the
missionaries also got to be the judges so me elder ostler elder andrada
and president maxfield got to taste the "wonderful" food they cooked and
luckily we were able to pick one as the winner then they all split to
get dressed and ready for the dinner and dance and so then we ate dinner
and went home at about 8 when the dance started then Thursday morning
was amazing we went to tacloban to hear from elder Nielsen of the area
seventy speak and give us a training and he gave us time to ask
questions but its weird because my questions were about helping build
the new branch presidency and every one else was asking about doctrinal
things i felt weird but he was happy to help and i learned a ton and i
got to see elder leishman again now that he is back in the Philippines
an then we went home so that elder andrada could pack because he is now
transferred and i have a new companion but ya so Friday me and elder
ostler were companions again but at youth con for their testimony
meeting and fireside and then Delicious lunch then we waited at the road
for our new companions my new companions name is elder apat which is
cool because he is my fourth companion and apat is Tagalog for 4 sweet
but he is pretty close to going home so i might have to help him not get
to home sick but i think he will be ok so Saturday morning we planted
trees and went to the church for PEC meeting and a primary activity and
went home then Sunday we had a pretty good sacrament meeting with 61
attendance yesss and i spent the whole day getting things ready for
tithing and then a funeral service and ya so then that night we were at a
members house for a small service and then Tuesday the will be burying
him so i am conducting there ya this is a little different experience
but i have learned a lot since he died about the spirit world especially
since i taught a lesson on family history during the combined
priesthood RS class but now its raining and my companion needs to go for
an eye appointment but has no money so it wont happen until Wednesday
so busy again well i love you all and sorry not a whole lot happened and
the computer is being weird and wont let me send pictures again sorry
ill try again next week because i have a lot of new pictures and ya
happy birthday mom even though its not until Saturday which should also
be the day of my first baptism but she is now in manila oh well maybe
another time cant Wait to talk in like 14 days itll be sweet
PS oh and i forgot i got a letter from uncle peter and it is so true the
truth is the best no matter who you are and i love that he learned it
from rocky i have been trying to find new ways to related the gospel to
everything like everyone does during their conference talks and uncle
peter definitely knows how
